Welcome all to another season of fabulous rugby here with Bedford Junior Blues. I for one am really looking forward to this Sunday and getting back at it !!.
We have had some exciting developments over the closed season with the introduction of the new all-weather pitch at the Ath. For those who have yet to see it is a magnificent addition to the facilities we have at our disposal for Junior Rugby. This all-weather pitch will enable rugby to be played throughout the season irrespective of what the weather can throw at us. It also enables training midweek resting the other areas of the grounds. Our Operations Manager Paul Moffat will be managing the Junior Blues allocations for this pitch but I assure you every age group will reap the benefits. There are some very strict rules with regards it usage and these are on our website for all to read, so please ensure these are always adhered to.
I know that the RFU are keen to promote this facility to all and some great rugby events are in the planning. So watch this space.
Bedford Junior Blues club policy requires all players to be paid up “Members” in order to participate in training/matches. Our membership year runs from 1st September to 31st August each year.
Membership is defined as having:
- Completed online registration via club website
- Made appropriate payments on or after 1st August (exception: Welfare or Give Rugby A Try)
Please ensure that your child’s membership is up to date, non members will not be permitted to participate in any form of training or playing as they will not be covered by RFU insurance. If you have any questions regarding our membership, please do not hesitate to ask your team manager.
Owing to the generosity of our club sponsors we have been able this season to provide every Mini section player member from U7s to U12s who sign up by with a free new club shirt and every junior squad with a set of numbered squad playing shirts. A massive thanks goes out to them for their support of Bedford Junior Blues.
We as a club do rely on the efforts of all our volunteers to provide rugby for all. This season we still have a few gaps in our volunteer ranks and I would ask you plse if you can spare a few hours a month sign up and join our team. The roles aren’t too demanding and there is a strong support team to assist wherever necessary, but ‘ Your Club needs you !!’
BJB Welcome Booklet
All members will receive this year a welcome booklet (attached to this article) detailing plenty of information concerning our club. Please ensure you and your children read and understand this and hand the signed receipt confirming you understand and agree to the clubs terms and conditions back to your team manager as soon as possible.
Personal Accident Insurance
As a club, we have been asked to clarify the club’s position with regards Personal Accident Insurance for all our members/players.
The RFU has arranged Personal Accident insurance cover for all players participating in rugby union with an RFU affiliated club, including competitive play and training, or whilst taking part in the sport at school, college or university. See Cover The policy can be read here.
Thank all for keeping rugby alive in Bedford and I look forward to welcoming you all in person over the coming weeks.
Yours in rugby
Kevin Breeze - Chairman
