The Junior Blues Under 11s provide quality rugby in an enjoyable and structured environment supported by a team of RFU qualified volunteers. In keeping with all Bedfordshire and East Midlands rugby clubs, we play under the RFU's 'Age Grade Rugby' - a deliberately child-centric approach to the game. Through this phased approach to learning, we we introduce children to the rugby skills that they will then use for the rest of their playing days (and the social skills and friendships that will help them throughout life).
We are passionate about what we do, but what we are not about winning matches at all costs. The core values of rugby – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship – are at the heart of what we do and our goal is to allow all our players to experience the fellowship, fun and excitement that rugby offers.
The focus of our 2019-20 season will be building on rucking and mauling as well as introducing kicking and a contested strike in the 3 v 3 player scrum. We will also continue to develop tackling, passing, use of space, support play, continuity, etc. We train at Bedford Athletic RFU's ground on Wentworth Drive from 10am to 11:30am on a Sunday morning. We offer trial sessions during September so you can "Give Rugby a Try" before fully joining. From October we then alternate between training sessions and friendly home and away fixtures with other rugby clubs.
