The Junior Blues Under 13s provide quality rugby in an enjoyable and structured environment supported by a team of RFU qualified volunteers. In keeping with all Bedfordshire and East Midlands rugby clubs, we play under the RFU's 'New Rules of Play' - a deliberately child-centric approach to the game. Through this phased approach to learning, we introduce children to the rugby skills that they will then use for the rest of their playing days (and the social skills and friendships that will help them throughout life).
We are passionate about what we do, but what we are not about winning matches at all costs. The core values of rugby – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship – are at the heart of what we do and our goal is to allow all our players to experience the fellowship, fun and excitement that rugby offers.
The main changes to the game for the 2019-20 season are:
We train at Bedford Athletic RFC's ground on Wentworth Drive from 10am to 11:45am on a Sunday morning. We offer trial sessions for new players during September so you can "Give Rugby a Try" before fully joining (training sessions only. From late September we then alternate between training sessions and a combination of league or friendly fixtures with other rugby clubs. We will be fielding 2 teams as U13s so on some Sundays one team will be Home and the other team Away. We will also be running mid-week training on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on the rugby pitches at Bedford Athletic Stadium on Barkers Lane.
